A blog about herbal meanderings and mischief making.
Who Am I?
My name is Holly. I am an herbalist in the DC Metro Area. I have had a lifetime love of plants. I grew up in a small town in the Sierra Nevada Mountains in Northern California. Our little miner's cabin was surrounded by mountains, forests, and an abundance of wildlife. Most of my time was spent outside, either in our garden, in the woods, or down in one of the many nearby stream and river valleys. My mother first introduced me to herbalism and gardening. She was an avid gardener and an adventurous spirit. I have always wanted to know what plants do, how they taste, and if they could be used as medicine. For me, herbs help me to connect to the earth and the natural world.
I studied classical liberal arts at St. John's College. I love philosophy and the great books. I got my Master of Science in Herbal Medicine at Tai Sophia Institute.
On my journey of learning herbalism I have had the opportunity to meet and learn from many wonderful herbalists and healers. I am so grateful to be able to learn from their knowledge, wisdom, and experience.
